Principal components controlling building form Print

Design Outcome

This section describes the main influences on the form of apartment buildings and the various design outcomes.

The principal components of building form are height and mass, depth, and setback. These influence the overall shape of the building within its defined ‘building envelope’.

Building separation is also an important consideration (see Placing the building).
