Layout and configuration Print

Design Outcome

The layout and configuration of parking can often determine the structure of the building.

The dimensions of a building's structural grid should be engineered to maximise parking numbers and minimise wastage of space, whilst ensuring that the layout is safe and accessible for pedestrians.  Tweak parking arrangements until an optimal configuration is reached.

Space planning should also take into consideration practicalities such as servicing, storage and rubbish bins (refer also to Utilities and Storage).

Well configured car parks save construction and operational costs by optimising structure and streamlining use.
