Secure weak spots in buildings by supplementing other safe design principles with extra measures where needed.
Many of the other principles for safe design stem from general good design practice. However, for extra protection, certain details can be added to a building that are strictly for security, including locks, CCTV cameras, bars, or even security personnel.
These elements secure a location by making it harder to commit a crime. They discourage trespassers as they signal who owns the site, separating those who are allowed to be there from those who are not. Security details must be installed with care though, as they may make a location less attractive or even appear more dangerous, as they suggest to visitors that crime is expected.
